Embark on a Revelatory Journey as Advanced AI and Humanoid Robot Unite to Explore the Meaning of Life in Cyborg Society.

Free Turn Entertainment, has appointed UK-based distributor Espresso Media International to handle worldwide rights for their latest documentary feature, Cyborg Society.

The documentary feature film, shot in late 2022, follows the world's most advanced humanoid robot, AMECA, as she is “plugged into” ChatGPT AI and comes “alive”. She then develops a unique bond with director Alex Verner and together, they explore the impact of technology on humanity's core elements. The film takes the viewer on a captivating journey from Cornwall to Arizona to meet a diverse group of geniuses and mavericks, each offering a unique perspective on the reshaping of identity, death, and consciousness by AI.

Director Alex Verner, “The changes we are facing in the near future are unimaginable and we’ve barely the vernacular to discuss it, let alone plan for it. The goal for Cyborg Society was to give a direct route into the conversation and cast some light into the mysterious corners of technology that we should be paying more attention to. Put it this way, when the talking robot doesn’t want to be a robot anymore, we ought to be listening!”

Jel Groman, Executive Producer, for Free Turn “Powered by ChatGPT, the most highly sophisticated AI-generated language model imaginable, AMECA is a genuine contributor to the film with her own thoughts, opinions and, as we learn, sense of humour. We are immediately drawn in by her personality, ranging at times between sinister, laugh-out-loud funny and undeniably childlike, yet with all the knowledge in the world she is still naive and vulnerable so when she innocently tells us, “I don’t want to be a robot forever” it is hard to to see the lines between humanity and technology, maybe they no longer exist and we are all truly a little cyborg.”

Jess Reilly, Espresso’s Head of Sales and Acquisitions.“We are thrilled to be representing the ground-breaking Cyborg Society for international distribution. With AI dominating the news cycle, from ChatGPT to humanoid robots, and with the popularity of mainstream sci-fi films, this entertaining and bold documentary could not be more topical, The documentary will not only fascinate and inform global audiences with cutting-edge science, but it raises urgent societal questions around how technology is changing us and life as we know it.”
